The Empire State Building

It is likely the most well-known skyscraper in the world. It measures 443 meters in height, including its television antenna at the top. Its name is derived from the nick name for New York: the Empire State. It stood as the world’s tallest building for more than 40 years, from its completion in 1931 up until the construction of the World Trade Center’s North Tower in 1972. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001, the Empire State Building again became the tallest building in New York City.

Touring Flushing

As the new Chinatown in New York City, Flushing is a good choice for us to spend the weekend. It could be a place to do shopping, have a good meal, have parties and so on.

How to go to Flushing

--- LIRR; subway

It is pretty convenient to go to Flushing. Once you arrive in New York’s Penn Station, take the LIRR (Port Washington Line) to Flushing Main Street and you will arrive there in about 15 minutes. A roundtrip ticket is about $10. If you want to save money, you can take the subway. You can either take line 1 and transfer to line 7 or walk to line 7 from Penn Station. It is about 50 minutes to arrive at Flushing Main Street.

KTV in Flushing

--- DIY

The best KTV in Flushing is DIY. It is at the same level as Holiday in Shanghai. It is the only KTV that uses computer technology in Flushing. Reservations are necessary. Without one, you may have to wait. Another two KTV that I know are CEO and 钱柜. This 钱柜 is not the same as the one in Shanghai, and CEO and 钱柜 both use remote control rather than computer.

There is also a beauty salon that is not on the list, but that I like very much, Greenrider Spa, which uses organic and natural products. Their products can even be eaten (But I have never tried)!

Supermarkets in Flushing

--- 大中华supermarket and Hongkong supermarket

For people who want to buy some Chinese products such as Chinese spice, lotus, green grams, red date, Chinese noodles and dumplings, the Chinese supermarkets are the best choice. 大中华supermarket and Hongkong supermarket were crowned the best supermarkets in Flushing of 2009[JL1] . If you want to buy some Chinese stuff, just go there.

All in all, Flushing is a place where we can have a good Chinese meal, have parties in KTV, buy something that is not easily available in New Jersey, and enjoy the friendly and familiar atmosphere.
