Rider’s campus life is full of interesting events and valuable experiences. Rider students are very active and creative.

Some of the important events at Rider include the winter weekend, University ball, Halloween, celebration of lights, the cranberry festival, and the anniversary of the SRC. In addition, students also can enjoy the Pub night, Movie Night, the spring and fall concert, the Rider Art Gallery Exhibit, Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run/Walk, Hunger and Homelessness Week, Family weekend, and Rider’s Talent and Fashion Show. What’s more, students also can learn based on their interests and gain a great deal from some events, like the Japanese Pop Culture Society club, Law Society club, SGA Freshman Elections, and Professional speech.

Rider pub nights are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. You can come out and enjoy the entertainment planned by the Pub staff.

Movie Nights are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A variety of films are offered to you, such as the latest horror and comedy movies, or some other films depicting different cultural backgrounds.

The spring and fall concert is held by the Rider students, who create music for their team and also invite some famous singers from around the world as guests.

Every year the Rider Art Gallery Exhibit will focus on a series of paintings, which come from the major museums throughout the country. It also offers Rider students the opportunity to exhibit their own work.

Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run/Walk is a 5K run/walk or one mile fun run around campus. Stomp out Stigma Run/Walk is to bring awareness about mental health issues.

To keep in solidarity with Mercer County's homeless population, .Hunger and Homelessness Week allows students to camp out inon the campus mall in cardboard boxes in order to simulate a night without shelter.

Rider University holds its annual Family Weekend festivities in November. Family Weekend activities include choir and theater rehearsals, concerts, class sessions, family educational sessions, a luncheon, basketball games, campus hayrides, and musical entertainment.

In November, Rider’s Talent and Fashion Show feature various students from different cultures showcasing traditional dress, as well as performances.

If you are interested in the Japanese Pop Culture Society, students can join its club and meet weekly to discuss traditional and non-traditional media, entertainment, history and culture, along with games and contests, and cultural trips. Aside from that, if you are interested in law and law-related careers, you can meet each other on every Wednesday to discuss these topics.

SGA (Student government association) Freshman Elections are for freshman to learn about how to be a leader on campus their first year here. Be a President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary.

An assortment of lectures are given by well-known professors or company CEOs on topics ranging from business knowledge and experience to career training and opportunities.

There are various organizations and clubs at Rider University. I will list those most useful to Sanda students.

Society:

Accounting

For MACC students, it is very useful to attend the Accounting society.  Rider’s accounting programs are designed to prepare students for a variety of career paths in the accounting profession. We provide a challenging, yet supportive, learning environment and our classes develop critical thinking abilities, as well as technical, communication and interpersonal skills. All students meet with a faculty advisor once a semester, not only for advice about academic choices, but also for assistance in planning for a successful career.

The Department has three professional student organizations:

•       Beta Alpha Psi, the national honor society that recognizes excellence in accounting, finance and information systems

•       Accounting Society: Students in the organization meet once on Thursday e

•       very week.

•       Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Student Chapter

These organizations meet frequently and provide our students with opportunities to network with accounting and finance professionals.

Clubs:

International Clubs (the most useful for Sanda students):

The Rider International Club is a student-run organization consisting of international undergraduate students.  The advisor is Amjad Abdo. The members include U.S. citizens who live abroad, U.S. undergraduate students who have an interest in interacting with students from other cultures and many international students who are from France, Germany, or Austria and so on. The club gives students a good way to make friends who are from different cultures. It also holds some events every semester, such as a visit to Washington D.C. Every Wednesday, students meet in GEE lounge. There is one theme night every two weeks, during which, students volunteer to cook for others. For instance, Korean students cook traditional Korean food for other members in the club. Through these meetings and activities, students get to know each other and learn much about other cultures. I have posted some pictures about the international club in “photo gallery”..
